Appointments: Case interviews require appointment. Questions about opening a case and benefits in general , as well as information regarding already open cases do not need appointments.
Cost: Free
Eligibility: Proof of citizenship or alien registration card (alien residency must have been held for 5 or more years), valid photo ID, proof of birth, as well as proof of income. Proof of income can include employer pay-stubs as well as personal transaction records for self-employed individuals.
Languages: English, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Cantonese.
*For American Sign Language it is recommended to notify office ahead of visit to ensure an ASL interpreter can be present at the time of the appointment. 

Boriken Neighborhood Health Center

Services: Boriken Neighborhood Health Center (EHCHS) is a not-for-profit community-based organization established in 1965 to provide crucially needed services to residents of East Harlem. Today, EHCHS is a bilingual/bicultural organization providing a broad range of services to a largely Latino clientele. Full health and dental with pharmacy among other social programs.

Cost: Free or sliding scale depending on service
Eligibility: Available regardless of legal status.

WIC Program

Services: Provides services to those with basic needs issues, including clothing, emergency aid, shelter, food, housing, social security, and transportation.
Appointments: Need appointment and medical referral form from doctor. Referral Form.
Eligibility: Pregnant women, and children under the age of 5. Need proof of address and income. Guidelines for income eligibility and residency requirements on website
Cost: Free and sliding scale services. 

Catholic Charities at St. Cecilia's Parish
Location: 125 East 105th Street (near Park Avenue)

Hours: Food Pantry: Wednesday - Friday 9:30am - 11am, Case Management: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
Services: Emergency food to residents of 10029/10035 zip codes. Wednesdays are reserved for new immigrants. Case Management: Rental arrears, distribute some funding for rent after assessment. Offer new carriages, beds. Also provides emergency aid, case management, tenants' rights, immigrant advocacy.
Eligibility: Based on benefits screening. Proof of address is helpful but not essential. Immigration status not an issue.

Community Kitchen

Services & Hours: Soup Kitchen: congregate meals served on-site, or family meals packaged for pick-up; Open for dinner Monday - Friday 4pm - 6pm
Food Pantry: fresh produce and packaged food items for pick-up in supermarket-style setting; Registered clients can pick up food items and produce on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday from 11am-3:30pm as well as Wednesday from 1-8pm.
Cost: Free
Appointments: To register, visit on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday from 3:30-5 pm or Wednesday from 11am-1pm. Please bring proof of address.

Services: Largest, nonsectarian, neighborhood-based, non-residential provider of emergency food in New York City. Food Pantry and Brown Bag service with registration. All are welcome to breakfast and dinner. Also provides a small men's shelter. Pantry and Brown Bags must register: stop by the 24|7 NYCP window between 8 am and midnight. Must bring ID for children, and photo ID, income/benefit letter or salary stub, and a proof of address for adults.

Cost: Free
Eligibility: Pantry and Brown Bags must register: stop by the intake office between 9AM and 8PM Monday-Saturday and 4PM-8 PM on Sundays and Holidays. To register, you must bring birth certificate for children under 18, and photo ID, income/benefit letter or salary stub, and a proof of address for adults. You will be asked to declare income and expenses at the intake office.
