Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) provides advanced, 24/7 care for patients with life‑threatening cardiac conditions. Our multidisciplinary team—including critical care physicians, cardiologists, medical trainees, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, palliative care specialists, social workers, chaplains, and dedicated support staff—is committed to delivering evidence‑based, compassionate care in a highly monitored environment.
Equipped with state‑of‑the‑art technology, the CICU manages complex cardiac emergencies such as acute myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, life‑threatening arrhythmias, advanced heart failure, and postoperative recovery following interventional procedures. Our team also specializes in advanced mechanical circulatory support technologies—including temporary ventricular assist devices and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation—to stabilize patients with severe cardiogenic shock and support recovery during critical illness. Continuous hemodynamic monitoring, rapid diagnostic capabilities, and immediate access to interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery allow our team to respond quickly to changes in a patient’s condition, ensuring timely and effective treatment.
We are dedicated to providing excellent, patient‑centered care grounded in compassion, communication, and partnership. Families are encouraged to be active partners in the care process, and we prioritize comfort, dignity, and support at every step.
Our CICU is located at 1468 Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side, on the fifth floor, east of the Guggenheim Pavilion.
