Clinically Based Nurse Scientist Summit
From June 16–18, 2025, the CNRI and Nursing at Mount Sinai hosted the first-ever conference on the role of clinically based nurse scientists in healthcare delivery settings. Supported with funding from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (R13HS030192), this multiday in-person summit featured expert presenters and panelists, generative discussions and breakout sessions, and networking and collaborative forums. Over 100 participants from across the United States discussed shared challenges and opportunities for advancing this unique, varied, and rapidly expanding role. Additional Conference Outputs
- Conference organizers and attendees partnered with Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing to create a nationwide networking and resource-sharing organization for clinically based nurse scientists.
- Conference participants are collaborating to co-author 11 working papers on the role of the clinically based nurse scientist, which will be published in a special issue of a major scientific journal.
- Conference organizers are drafting a five-year strategic framework outlining the mission, vision, goals, strategic priorities, and crosscutting strategies for maximizing the impact of the clinically based nurse scientist on the quality, safety, accessibility, affordability, and equity of healthcare in the United States.
