"Mount Sinai Launches Digital Health Center with German Partner"
The Mount Sinai Health System and Hasso Plattner Institute have formed a digital health center in New York. The Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health at Mount Sinai, started with a $15 million gift from the Hasso Plattner Foundation, will focus on developing new health products with predictive and preventive capabilities in real time for both patients and health care providers. The goal is to prevent diseases and improve patient outcomes. "This is about computer scientists and artificial intelligence practitioners sitting side by side with clinicians," said Joel Dudley, PhD, director of the Institute for Next Generation Healthcare at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Dudley added, “Mount Sinai contributes the resources of a major academic medical center with a patient population as diverse as the United Nations, while the Hasso Plattner Institute contributes expertise in information technology and engineering. The work wouldn't be possible in silos.”
