The Truth About Nutritional Powders

Nutritional powders have become a popular part of many women’s health routines, but which ones are actually beneficial? In this episode of HERology, our co-hosts are joined by Anita Mirchandani, MS, RD, CDN, to discuss the growing world of nutritional powders and supplements.

The conversation explores protein, collagen, creatine, greens, electrolytes, and other nutritional powders, including how they may support women’s health at different stages of life. The group also discusses the importance of whole foods, how nutritional needs can change over the decades, and when a powder may be a useful addition to a healthy diet.

Our experts also offer practical advice for evaluating nutritional powders, including how to identify quality products and avoid misleading health claims. They discuss what women should consider before adding a new supplement to their routine—and why, when it comes to nutrition, more is not necessarily better.

Joanne Stone: If you put creatine in something hot, is it not as effective as in something cold? Does it matter? Does it make any difference?

Anita Mirchandani: I honestly don't know if there's any evidence on that. I know people put creatine and collagen in their coffees. Personal experience, I wouldn't do that. I love my coffee too much, and I like it the way it is.

Anita Mirchandani: But that's just me. But- That's where it goes in my house.
