Dr. Joshua Bederson - “Mount Sinai's Dr. Joshua Bederson First to Use Virtual Reality Imaging System: 6 Highlights”
Joshua Bederson, MD, chairman of neurosurgery for Mount Sinai Health System, is the first to use Germany-based Leica Microsystems' CaptiView. Using CaptiView, surgeons view virtual reality imaging overlaid on the brain through an eyepiece. Surgeons can see images of a patient's original CT scans or MRIs superimposed on the patient's brain during microscopic surgery. "This next-generation augmented virtual reality tool provides real-time information in ways never before realized," said Dr. Bederson.
