Mount Sinai Health System Hospitals Recognized Among World’s Best and Number 1 in New York in Newsweek/ Statista Rankings
The Mount Sinai Hospital earns top marks on both World’s Best Specialized Hospitals, World’s Best Smart Hospitals, and Best-in-State Hospitals lists; Mount Sinai Morningside also ranked as a leading smart hospital
Mount Sinai Health System hospitals continue to earn top marks for excellence in care, according to new rankings released by Newsweek/Statista:
- For the sixth straight year, The Mount Sinai Hospital held the top spot in cardiology for both New York State and New York City in the “World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2026” rankings.
- The Mount Sinai Hospital was named No. 1 in New York State and the only hospital statewide to earn a ribbon recognizing its Patient Reported Outcome Measures, a mark of clinical excellence, in “Best-in-State Hospitals 2026” rankings.
- The hospital also placed No. 1 in the same rankings for both city and state in gastroenterology and obstetrics/gynecology.
- The hospital ranked No. 5 in the world and No. 1 in New York City among “World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2026”—higher than in the 2025 rankings.
Mount Sinai Morningside also performed well, placing No. 4 for New York City and No. 30 internationally in the “World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2026” rankings, which recognizes and ranks the 350 leading hospitals from 30 countries. Both Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West were also ranked at No. 15 in New York for “Best-in-State Hospitals 2026” among the 30 hospitals that were included.

Rankings for Newsweek/Statista’s “World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2026” are based primarily on reputation, which accounts for 85 percent of the total ranking score. For their “World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2026” rankings, reputation accounts for 77.5 percent of the total score.
The Mount Sinai Hospital was recognized for the first time with the NRC Health Consumer Loyalty Award, celebrating a commitment to excellent patient care. The Consumer Loyalty Awards recognize hospitals that rank among the top 100 healthcare organizations based on a survey of over 300,000 people across the country from April 2024-March 2025. Winners are celebrated for the highest ratings in likelihood to be recommended to others, overall image and reputation, and whether patients feel everyone at the hospital treated them as a unique person.
