Cardinale Smith, MD, PhD, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer for the new Tisch Cancer Hospital at The Mount Sinai Hospital and Vice President of Cancer Clinical Affairs, and Ash Tewari, MBBS, MCh, has been appointed Surgeon-in-Chief of the Tisch Cancer Hospital. Dr. Smith said, “The Tisch Cancer Hospital will provide oncologic care and a hub for cancer research. [I hope] the new cancer hospital is an engine of innovation in cancer care, offering front-line trials for cancer therapies. Around 80 percent of Mount Sinai’s cancer patients live in the five boroughs, and one-third of them live in neighborhoods directly surrounding the hospital. The system recognizes cancer as a priority and at Mount Sinai, researchers are moving the needle on cancer care.”
