Dr. Michael Hausman: “Elbow Injury Threatens Parnell’s Season”
After having a magnetic resonance imaging test, Bobby Parnell was found to have a partly torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. He was given a platelet-rich plasma injection and told to rest for two weeks, after which he will begin a throwing program to determine if Tommy John surgery is necessary. “It’s unlikely that two weeks of rest are going to restore him to his full potential and capacity to play,” said Michael Hausman, MD, Interim Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at The Mount Sinai Hospital, who had no direct knowledge of Parnell’s injury and was speaking generally.
