The Mount Sinai Health System welcomes Elizabeth Haines, DO, MSc, FACEP, as Chief Operating Officer of Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital and Senior Vice President of Pediatric Services for the Mount Sinai Health System.

Dr. Haines joins Mount Sinai with a distinguished career dedicated to advancing patient safety, quality, and operational excellence in pediatric health care. In her new role, she is providing strategic leadership and operational oversight to strengthen Mount Sinai’s mission of delivering world-class patient and family-centered care. She is responsible for guiding children’s health initiatives at Mount Sinai, ensuring excellence in daily clinical operations and driving innovation across the Health System. Dr. Haines is also an attending physician in the Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Haines to our leadership team,” said Lisa M. Satlin, MD, Herbert H. Lehman Professor and Chair of the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics, and Pediatrician-in-Chief of Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. “Her career is a testament to her deep commitment to operational excellence and patient safety. Dr. Haines brings an impressive background and a strategic vision that will be instrumental in advancing our mission to provide the highest standard of care for our young patients and their families.”

“The appointment of Dr. Haines reflects our Health System’s unwavering commitment to children’s health and its strategic growth,” said David L. Reich, Chief Clinical Officer of the Mount Sinai Health System, and President of the The Mount Sinai Hospital. “Her unique blend of senior administrative and clinical expertise will be invaluable as we continue to expand and strengthen pediatric services across the entire system. Her leadership will be critical in ensuring we remain at the forefront of children’s health care.”

“Dr. Haines is an inspiring leader whose dedication to equity and quality resonates deeply with our mission,” said Lindsey Douglas, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. “We look forward to working with her as she helps guide the hospital and our children’s health services into an exciting new era of excellence in pediatric care.”

Dr. Haines most recently served as the System Service Chief of Quality for Children’s Services at NYU Langone Health, where she led initiatives to improve clinical outcomes, advance health equity, and standardize patient care through evidence-based pathways. She applied her expertise in emergency medicine and improvement science to projects such as optimizing data collection to support safety and health equity for all patients.

A longtime New Yorker, Dr. Haines earned her DO from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Atlantic Health. She also holds a Master of Science in Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

In addition to her past clinical roles, Dr. Haines has conducted research on the use of point-of-care ultrasound—a bedside ultrasound performed at the time of patient care instead of at a follow-up radiology appointment—and started a national project on neonatal infections. She is a member of the Medical Society of the State of New York, the Kings County Medical Society, and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

“I am committed to advancing our mission at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital to provide the highest quality of care and outcomes for the patients and families we serve,” said Dr. Haines. “With the support and collaboration of everyone within children’s health at Mount Sinai, I will advance our strategic growth in safety, quality, and equity for all. I look forward to building on Mount Sinai’s legacy of innovation to shape a healthier future for children across New York and beyond.”
