Integrated Medical Foundation Honors Ash Tewari, MBBS, MCh, with the Physician Blue Ribbon Award
Dr. Tewari recognized for his commitment to early detection of prostate cancer.

Ash Tewari, MBBS, MCh, Kyung Hyun Kim, MD Chair in Urology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Chairman, Milton and Carroll Petrie Department of Urology at The Mount Sinai Hospital, was the recipient of the Physician Blue Ribbon Award at the Blue Ribbon Awards Gala hosted by the Integrated Medical Foundation held on March 20th, 2014 at the Village Club in Lake Success, New York. Dr. Tewari was recognized for his commitment to the early detection of prostate cancer.
"I am honored and thankful to be the 2014 Blue Ribbon Award recipient for my efforts and those of my team to advance diagnostic and nerve sparing techniques for men with prostate cancer," said Dr. Tewari. "Precision urology, novel imaging, real time microscopy and genomic analysis will help us in identifying aggressive cancers and thus avoid the problems of over diagnosis and overtreatment which are so relevant in the current prostate cancer landscape."
Dr. Tewari pioneered robotic prostatectomy and he has performed more than 5,000 robotic prostatectomies, and other minimally invasive procedures for various urological cancers.
Dr. Tewari joined the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai after serving as founding Director of the Lefrak Center for Robotic Surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Tewari has trained more than 30 fellows and residents in robotics and has made presentations on innovation in robotics at major medical meetings in the United States and around the globe.

In 2012, the American Urological Association awarded him the prestigious Gold Cystoscope Award for his outstanding contributions to the field of urology and urologic oncology. Dr. Tewari has a solid commitment to research and has published in many peer reviewed journals. He is actively pursuing studies of the radiological phenotype of aggressive prostate cancer using novel imaging and genomics.
Dr. Tewari was awarded his medical degree from the GSVM Medical College in Kanpur, India, where he received 18 gold medals and honors. He obtained specialized urologic training at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute in Lucknow, India; residency training at the Vattikuti Institute of Urology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit; as well as fellowships in urologic oncology at the University of California San Francisco and the University of Florida at Gainesville.
