Eric Smouha, MD, Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai answered questions on WNYC’s Brian Lehrer Show about the sense of hearing, and hearing loss. “We won’t see the end product of exposure to noise through earbuds for many years,” said Dr. Smouha. “The problem with sound exposure is that it’s cumulative and additive over time, and sound energy falls off over distance. So when the sound is right in your ear, it’s more likely to have a damaging effect.” Learn more
