Blood Test may Find Brain Injury, Researchers Say
Concussions are a growing problem in competitive sports and doctors may soon have a blood test that will detect the injury's extent and later help determine when an athlete is fit to play according to a study. "We have been trying to do something like this in Alzheimer's disease for 30 years and have not yet succeeded," said Sam Gandy, PhD, Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry, and Associate Director of the Mount Sinai Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. "This is an extremely interesting and groundbreaking paper," said Dr. Gandy.
