Autism: A Study in 'Nature' Confirms the Genetic Component
An Italian researcher at Mount Sinai in New York, Silvia De Rubeis, has completed the first signatory of the study on autism. The study was published in the prestigious international journal 'Nature.' "We have identified 33 genes that, when mutated, confer a high risk for the onset of autism," says Dr. Silva De Rubeis. Dr. De Rubeis, works in the laboratory of Dr. Joseph Buxbaum at the Seaver Autism Center for Research and Treatment, Icahn at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
