The new rankings, released in the 2012-2013 edition of the US News & World Report "America's Best Graduate Schools" issue, are based on statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school's faculty, research, and students. This information is obtained through surveys of program directors as well as academics and professionals. Criteria used in the rankings include peer assessment surveys, research activity, grade point averages, MCAT scores, and National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding.
