Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, also known as a nose job or nose reshaping, is a surgical procedure to improve what your nose looks like. Rhinoplasty is also a solution to breathing difficulties. A rhinoplasty procedure performed by one of Mount Sinai’s expert plastic surgeons, will leave you feeling more confident and attractive and may allow you to breathe easier; the results depend on your goals.

To help with your breathing problems, our skilled aesthetic surgeons will call on their reconstructive skills as well as cosmetic to correct a deviated septum - a structure inside your nasal cavity. If your rhinoplasty is primarily a medical procedure, its cost may be covered by your medical insurance.

Your nose is a defining feature of your face. If you are not happy with the shape of the nose you were born with, or if it’s been disfigured through an injury, we can help. If its proportion compared to the rest of your face—too small or too large—is not pleasing to you, we can help. By choosing to alter your nose to match your sense of self, rhinoplasty only boosts your self-confidence. Our plastic surgeons will discuss your goals with you, and utilize our state-of-the-art technology to give you a very good idea of what you’ll look like after the procedure.

Looking Your Best

We welcome you to Mount Sinai whether you are choosing rhinoplasty for cosmetic or functional reasons, which may include:

  • Making your large or prominent nose smaller
  • Sculpting your nose into a more aesthetically pleasing shape
  • Correcting your nose if it turns up or down too much
  • Decreasing the size of your nostrils
  • Improving your nose if it’s been disfigured by an injury
  • Correcting functional defects you may have, such as a deviated septum

You may only need to alter your nose, or you may want to combine your rhinoplasty procedure with other facial cosmetic surgery, such as a face lifteyelid surgery, and ear shaping, for an overall facial improvement with only a single recovery period.

Our surgeons are happy to discuss the options with you at your consultation.
