"Miniature Therapy Horse Brings Comfort to Terminally Ill Patient"
Terry Lee is getting her last wish. A patient at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Terry had an usual visitor yesterday: Magic the miniature therapy horse. Terry has advanced kidney disease and her doctors at Mount Sinai Beth Israel helped arrange a special visit, knowing she has less than a month to live. “She really wanted to go back in the stable. Although we can’t do that, we can bring the stable to Terry,” said Stephen Berns, MD, an assistant professor of geriatrics and palliative medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. “It’s moments like these that make my day and make the staff’s day.”
