Obese Pilots to be Grounded if they have Sleep Apnea

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) plans to screen obese pilots for obstructive sleep apnea, which Steven Feinsilver, MD, director of the Center for Sleep Medicine explains is a condition in which a person could stop breathing 40 - 50 during one hour of sleep. Regarding the FAA screenings, Dr. Feinsilver pointed out that it isn't accurate to assume that most obese people have sleep apnea. Read more
