Mount Sinai Morningside Rehabilitation Medicine
If you or a loved one need the intensive care of inpatient rehabilitation, the Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Center can help. Our team members are all specially trained and skilled. Our spinal cord injury, brain injury, and stroke specialty programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
We offer more than highly skilled physical care. We teach you new ways to deal with the tasks of daily living. Our goal is to provide the emotional, social, and educational support you and your loved ones need. We want to help you lead a full and rewarding life.
Team-Based Approach
The first step is a full exam by our expert physiatrist (a doctor who specializes in physical rehabilitation). Then we develop a personal and interdisciplinary rehabilitation plan based on your needs. Our physiatrist leads our team of specialists. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days a week. Depending on your needs, you will receive one-on-one treatment from:
- Neuropsychologists
- Occupational therapists
- Physical therapists
- Social workers
- Speech-language pathologists
- Therapeutic recreation specialists
Services We Offer
While you are at the Center, you will receive 24-hour care from specially trained rehabilitation registered nurses. We offer evening and weekend recreation activities. You also have access to all of the hospital’s highly specialized services and physicians.
We are here for your families and loved ones. We teach them about your situation and how they can help. Our peer mentors and support groups are here to help them cope.
After you leave the Center, we coordinate with outpatient care to ensure that you receive continuous high quality services.
