We perform breast biopsies at The Blavatnik Family–Chelsea Medical Center at Mount Sinai. Our highly-trained radiologists use a local anesthetic. You will be awake during the procedure. After we give you a local anesthesia, the surgeon will make a small incision and extract a tissue sample. We place a tissue marker, then do a mammogram to see the marker. We send the tissue to the pathology laboratory for examination under a microscope. You can expect to receive results in five to seven business days.
