About Us

The Mount Sinai Department of Psychiatry is dedicated to improving the mental and emotional health in the communities we serve throughout New York and beyond. The focus of our multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers is to give patients of all ages the tools and support they need to achieve their highest level of mental health. Our specialists provide compassionate individual treatment plans in an outpatient or inpatient setting as appropriate for each patient and the patient’s family. In addition, we are able to connect our patients with other health care providers throughout the extensive Mount Sinai Health System.

Commitment to Excellence

Mount Sinai's mental health specialists are committed to excellence, which is the foundation of all we do to help patients achieve positive outcomes. We treat a range of conditions and provide patients benefits, such as daily relief from depression, the ability to gain control over an eating disorder, and sustaining recovery to improve their lives.

Through the integration of clinical expertise and scientific investigation, Mount Sinai provides the comprehensive care. Combining research resources and clinical patient experience, we offer specialized programs to provide leading-edge therapies. Our Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai conducts research that leads to advances in treating conditions such as attention deficit disorder (ADHD), and obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD).

Advanced Mental Health Services

Our specialists provide science-based treatments integrating research and personalized care. This type of care is making a difference for patients with challenging cases that have not responded to treatment elsewhere. We provide patients a broad offering of advanced treatment options, including pharmacotherapy, and psychosocial treatments, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and family-based therapy.

In addition to outpatient and inpatient care and a dedicated emergency room, Mount Sinai has specialized treatment centers, which combine research, clinical service, and education into a comprehensive model of care for all types of mental health disorders.

Science with Compassion

Our psychiatric services are opening the way to next generation therapies as we learn more about the causes of mental health conditions. Our active research programs give our patients access to new treatment options in the form of opportunities to participate in clinical trials, an option you can discuss with our staff.

Through our many programs and services, Mount Sinai helps patients of all ages. Whether you are caring for a child with ADHD or a parent struggling with age-related brain function issues, Mount Sinai strives to provide state-of-the-art, compassionate mental health care and treatment programs for patients and caregivers.
