Faced with a growing population of stroke patients, Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens is seeking the state's approval for a $6.7 million renovation of its main building's ground floor to create an interventional radiology suite.  The hospital said the enhanced stroke care would better position MSHQ to become a Joint Commission–certified Thombectomy-Capable Stroke Center, a new level of certification the commission plans to roll out early next year. MSHQ handled 365 stroke cases last year, a 36.7% increase since 2013.
