"A Young Hockey Player, A Brain Surgeon, and Futuristic Technology Work A Miracle On Ice" - Lindy Washburn
Josh Schultz, a teenage hockey player suffering from a rare bone tumor in his skull, was helped by surgery that used amazing tools. In the operating suite at Mount Sinai, Joshua Bederson, MD, professor and system chair for the Department of Neurosurgery at Mount Sinai Health System and clinical director of the Neurosurgery Simulation Core along with Eric M. Genden, MD, system chair of otolaryngology for Mount Sinai Health System operate on Josh Schultz. Dr. Bederson uses 3D images showing brain tissue, blood supply, bone and nerves as he navigates through the brain. Dr. Bederson is among the first neurosurgeons to bring this imaging directly into his field of vision while he operates.
