Tristate hospitals saw reprieve at the end of 2022 but cant escape financial pressures research finds
Adhi Sharma, MD, President of Mount Sinai South Nassau, discusses the largest donation in the hospital’s history, a $5 million pledge by The Louis Feil Charitable Lead Annuity Trust, and the hospital’s new wing, the Feil Family Pavilion, named in recognition of the contribution. He said, “As the hospital’s patient population has an average age of around 80 years old, the new facility will increase the critical care unit and intensive care unit capacity to meet the needs of the surrounding community. As we live longer, the type of care we need is critical-care based. The new pavilion will include a waiting room, triage areas, and dedicated spaces for geriatric and behavioral health to ensure the hospital also meets the mental health needs of its patients.”
