"State Committee Approves Mount Sinai As South Nassau’s Active Parent" - Jonathan LaMantia
A state regulatory body approved the Mount Sinai Health System as the active parent and co-operator of South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, Long Island. The move came despite opposition from health insurers that fear the deal will lead to higher costs. The approval by the Public Health and Health Planning Council's Committee on Establishment and Project Review sends the application to the full council on Aug. 2. Under the deal, South Nassau would become Mount Sinai's flagship hospital on Long Island and would join its $8 billion health system. Mount Sinai agreed to provide South Nassau $100 million over five years as part of the deal.
