Mount Sinai Queens is the only hospital in the borough to be certified a primary stroke center by the New York State Department of Health and the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Board certified neurologist Aaron P. Tansy, MD, Assistant Professor of Neurology, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, has led the Stroke Team at Mount Sinai Queens since July 2013. “Stroke patients are triaged immediately when they arrive at the Hospital. For potential acute stroke patients, the Stroke Alert System is activated,” said Dr. Tansy. “That means the acute stroke care specialists from the Emergency Department, neurology, radiology, pharmacy, and the laboratory are notified to assist with immediate care.” Learn more.
