  • (July 01, 2013)

90-degree temperatures and the threat of rain didn’t stop the staff and friends of Mount Sinai Queens from gathering on June 25 to celebrate the Hospital’s 14 years of service to the residents of western Queens and beyond.  During the anniversary event – the hospital’s last before Mount Sinai Queens undergoes major improvements – hospital leadership recognized its employees, nurses, and physicians in six categories: Employee of the Year, Service Excellence, Freshman of the Year, Manager of the Year, Team of the Year and Physician of the Year. In addition, members of three New York City Fire Department EMS battalions, one of which is stationed at Mount Sinai Queens, were given “Person of the Year” honors for their exemplary work serving the community.

Nearly 100 guests joined Caryn A. Schwab, Executive Director, Mount Sinai Queens, along with senior administration for a program and awards ceremony. Guests included David Reich, MD, Interim President and Chief Operating Officer, The Mount Sinai Hospital, who provided welcome remarks. Dr. Reich spoke of the accomplishments of Mount Sinai Queens, observing “how diligently Mount Sinai Queens has worked to achieve change” and citing the implementation of the Epic electronic health records system at the hospital as “flawless.”
