The Mount Sinai Queens Names New Director Of Outpatient Services
Melissa Lee, MD, has been named the new Director of Outpatient Services for Mount Sinai Queens, it was announced today by Dr. David M. Nierman, Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs.
Raised in Woodside and Astoria, Dr. Lee has returned to Queens after studying at Yale, and completing her residency at Harvard. A National Health Service Corps Scholar, she spent the last six years working on the Navajo Reservation in Northeastern Arizona. Board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics, Dr. Lee fits in with the medical practices concept of taking care of a whole family.
In addition to the handling of emergencies and planned surgeries, Mount Sinai Queens also offers a range of outpatient services through its medical practices – Family Health Associates and Physician Associates. In both locations, patients receive focused, individualized care from a team so that they can get all the medical care they need as outpatients.
"I’m very excited by the opportunities at Mount Sinai Queens," said Dr. Lee. "When you come to see your provider, you’re actually seeing a team, a small "family" who knows you."
"We are happy to welcome Dr. Lee," said Dr. Nierman. "She is a great addition to our group which focuses on our patients to provide continuous, coordinated, quality care under one roof. We are a home base for families."
Mount Sinai Queens is a 235-bed licensed acute care facility, providing adult medical and surgical services, with a team of nearly 500 physicians representing close to 40 medical and surgical specialties and sub-specialties.
