"NYC Scientists Unlocking The Brain's Power"
It has been said that the brain will be to the 21st century what the atom was to the 20th. Advances in genomics, bioinformatics and molecular biology, as well as digital-imaging technology, computer modeling and the ability to store enormous amounts of data cheaply, have opened a window on the workings of the brain. But with its staggering complexity, the brain largely remains a mystery. “Our understanding of something as simple and straightforward as, say, looking at a tree is not even clear,” said Dr. Eric Nestler, director of the Friedman Brain Institute and chairman of neuroscience at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
