Mount Sinai Health System just opened a new clinic for work-related injuries on Richmond road. Mount Sinai decided to open the Center on Staten Island after it discovered the area has the highest rate of work-related injuries and illnesses in the entire State. The Center will focus on prevention by providing health and safety training for employers. “There are urgent care centers and emergency rooms that patients go to as well as community physicians, who all provide good care. But, the focus on prevention and safety is clearly lacking,” said Yelina Globina, MD, assistant clinical professor of environmental medicine and public health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The Center will serve patients regardless of whether they have insurance coverage or not and regardless of their immigration status.
