Symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder
It's the time of year when Seasonal Affective Disorder can bring you down. The disorder, also known as "SAD," usually starts in the Fall, worsens in the Winter and ends in the Spring. "When someone has an episode of feeling down for a few weeks, then that usually remits and they get back to their activities and start to feel better. But when the symptoms get more severe or when the symptoms last for several months at a time, then it’s time to seek treatment," says Elizabeth Ochoa, Ph.D., of Mount Sinai, Beth Israel in New York.
