Dr. Jeffrey Saland: “Queens Kindergartner Diagnosed with End-Stage Kidney Failure Receives New Kidney”
Kindergartner Kinsey Saleh recently left The Mount Sinai Hospital with a precious gift — a new kidney from a courageous donor, who held her in his arms after the successful transplant but did not want public recognition for his remarkable generosity. “I think this is an amazing story — how one little, adorable girl can touch so many other people’s lives and make them want to help,” said Dianne LaPointe Rudow, MD, DNP, Associate Professor of Health Evidence and Policy, and Director of the Center for Living Donation at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Scott Ames said, “I was quite pleased. When you get a donor kidney, it’s not always what was expected. But this one came pretty much as described.” Jeffrey Saland, MD, Chief of Pediatric Nephrology, and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, also contributed to helping Saleh.
