Dr. Michael Hausman: “Yankees' CC Has Elbow Surgery, Will Be Ready For Opening Day”
Yankees player CC Sabathia underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow to remove a small bone spur. On Wednesday, before news of the surgery, Joe Girardi said he expected Sabathia to be ready for spring training and a pair of doctors agreed with that assessment. “That’s reasonable,” said Dr. Michael Hausman, Orthopedic Surgeon and Chief of Hand and Elbow Surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. “It typically takes 10-12 weeks to get back to normal, so maybe he won’t be throwing as hard as he usually does when he starts out, but he’ll get back there.”
