Frequently Asked Questions

Will my parents find out if I go to the clinic?

We Respect your Privacy

All of our services are confidential and do not require parental consent. While we encourage you to talk with your parents, we understand that this is not always possible.

What is the cost?

All of our health education, mental health, and family planning services are available at no cost to you. We accept Medicaid and most other medical insurance plans. Medicaid patients should always bring their Medicaid cards to the Center and can learn more about HealthFirst, a Medicaid managed care plan in which Mount Sinai is a provider, by speaking with a staff member.

Why do adolescents need their own clinic?

The answer to these questions is the same -- teens.

That information is surprising for many, especially since the adolescent and young adult years represent a crucial, but often difficult period in a person's life -- when young people face unique physical, emotional, and social challenges, as well as choices that can have lifelong consequences.

Fortunately, one program is finding ways to bridge the gap between the need for, and the delivery of, health care among teens-the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center. In addition to serving this important and diverse community through outreach, prevention, and intervention, the MSAHC also aims to be a national leader in education, research, and advocacy on behalf of teens and their health needs.
