A Message from Our Director
Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center has served the health needs of young people from New York and beyond, and from every walk of life, for almost 50 years. We strive to remove any obstacles that keep young people from getting the care they need. Here adolescents and young adults find a safe haven, a true health home that provides confidential, fully integrated services six days a week.
Everything we do is designed for young people who are welcomed, understood and treated with respect. We also welcome family members as we know that families are our greatest resource in keeping young people healthy. All our services are provided regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. We provide loving care and support to more than 11,000 young people each year.
Being there for New York City’s most vulnerable young people, and helping them learn to care for themselves and make healthy, informed choices, is our core commitment. Every young person who needs care should get it. We do our best to make sure that everyone does. Our expert staff helps our patients make decisions that will positively impact their health and well being for the rest of their lives. We support our patients’ decisions with a wide range of resources: primary healthcare, sexual and reproductive health services, health education and counseling, mental health services and dental care. Most importantly, we don’t just treat symptoms. We treat each individual’s particular needs to help him or her realize their full potential.
With our expertise in serving the needs of adolescents, Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center has attained a leadership role in the adolescent health field. Today we are more than the largest freestanding adolescent health center in the country. We are a training destination for physicians, psychologists and social workers – and for adolescent specialists from across the globe. We are a center for innovative research in key issues in adolescent health; we stand as advocates for adolescents in the development of national policies on issues impacting adolescents; and we are a model in our industry for effective, cost-efficient health services.
Thank you for visiting us here today. I invite you to learn more about the Center here on our website, and we welcome you to visit us in person.
