HIV/AIDS Prevention & Treatment
Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center's Project Impact (Improving Access to Care and Treatment) service provides comprehensive medical services, case management for HIV+ adolescents and mental health counseling for any young people and their families impacted by HIV/AIDS.
Each patient is assigned a social worker and doctor who work together as a team to provide high quality holistic health care services. We take a patient centered approach, with the understanding that each individual has different needs and will require different levels of services.
Medical Services include:
- Specialty HIV medical treatment
- Laboratory monitoring
- Viral load testing and CD4 counts
- HIV medication (HAART/ARV), initiation and maintenance
- Routine preventative medical care
- Reproductive health care
- Gynecology and family planning
- Pregnancy prevention and testing
- STI evaluation
- Risk reduction education and counseling
- HIV testing including same-day rapid testing
- Stress reduction
- Legal Services
- Ophthalmology
- Nutrition
Support and Counseling Services:
- Weekly HIV-positive support group
- Individual and family psychotherapy, counseling and support
- Comprehensive case management
- Violence prevention and treatment
- Supportive services for survivors of sexual assault and physical and sexual abuse
- Alcohol and substance abuse prevention, treatment and support services
- Teen parenting support service
- Assistance with insurance applications, including M11Q and Medicaid
- Legal assistance and guidance with HIV- and non-HIV related issues
- Social activities including movie outings, picnics, and museum visits
- A Partnership with the international center for photography for yearly photography project and exhibition
