Body Mass Index

One way to figure out if you need help losing weight is by using the body mass index (BMI). This tool measures your body fat based on your height and weight.  It uses these weight categories:

  • Less than 18.5: underweight
  • 18.5-24.9: normal
  • 25-29.9: overweight
  • 30-34.9: obese (class I)
  • 35-39.9: seriously obese class II)
  • More than 40: seriously obese (class III)
