Emilia Clarke revealed the two brain aneurysms she suffered in her early twenties, after filming the first season of Game of Thrones. “I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt a headache like that meant brain damage,” said Emilia. After a month in the hospital, Emilia Clarke went back to work on Game of Thrones, however a smaller aneurysm remained in her brain. In 2013, Emilia Clarke had surgery to operate on the second aneurysm, and miraculously survived. Carolyn Brockington, MD, assistant professor of neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, said “The classic description of an aneurysm is the worst headache of your life. All of the sudden, it feels like your head is going to explode.” According to Dr. Brockington, other symptoms of an aneurysm include nausea, dizziness, vomiting, and problems with vision. “You have to go in right away and get treated. That’s when people do the best, when they seek treatment immediately.”
