Lung cancer is still the leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States, though the incidence of lung cancer has been dropping for the past 30 years. "The cause of lung cancer is a relatively easy issue: The main environmental factor is smoking," says Dr. Paolo Boffetta from Mount Sinai.
