The New York Times-Dr. Peter Faries on Phil Hughes: Homers Are Just a Part of the Yanks’ Big Night

A resolution for Yankees’ Phil Hughes will not come before Monday, when he is scheduled to meet with a vascular surgeon. Dr. Peter Faries, chief of vascular surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, suggested that if Hughes did have thoracic outlet syndrome, his symptoms were more consistent with nerve compression than with a circulatory problem because Hughes had not mentioned any swelling or muscular pain, which, he said, would indicate a lack of blood flow.
