At least two Chinese provinces now require them to be worn in public. “In the medical profession, N95 masks are generally only used by doctors working with airborne viruses like measles,” said Aaron Glatt, MD, FACP, FIDSA, FSHEA, clinical professor of medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, chairman of the department of medicine and hospital epidemiologist, and chief of infectious disease at Mount Sinai South Nassau. He added, “If you put it in your purse it’s potentially going to contaminate everything in your purse.”
