"Mouse Study Hints at Treatment for Eczema"
Many people suffer from eczema or other chronically itchy conditions, and a new study in mice hints at why. The scientists have identified a gene involved associated with chronic itch, and believe a better understanding of the genetics could lead to new treatments. "This is a major breakthrough in our understanding of a common, yet, unsatisfactorily treated symptom associated with numerous dermatologic disorders," said Andrew Alexis, MD, MPH, Chair of Dermatology at Mount Sinai St. Luke's and Mount Sinai Roosevelt in New York City.
