The Rossi, the student newsletter of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, featured an interview with Dr. Neil Calman, the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, in its January 2014 issue. Alexa M. Mieses, Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) leader, Editor-in-Chief of the Rossi, and MD/MPH candidate for 2016, conducted the interview.

The article, titled, “Dr. Neil Calman: A Champion of the Underserved and Leader in Medicine,” highlights Dr. Calman’s dedication to advocacy, especially within medicine. Dr. Calman describes his hopes for the future of family medicine at Mount Sinai and discusses the importance of primary care. He encourages medical students to pursue primary care, stating, “If you’re interested in primary care or family medicine, there is no better time than now… These are the good days for people who are interested in primary care.”
