This year, Mount Sinai Heart had 155 physicians, nurses, staff, friends and family members participate in the three-mile AHA Wall Street Run and Heart Walk. Together, team Mount Sinai Heart proudly reached its fundraising goal raising more than $20,000 to support the AHA's efforts to raise awareness and combat cardiovascular disease.

Thanks to the contributions of team Mount Sinai Heart and other event participants, the 2013 AHA Run/Heart Walk event raised more than $1.7 million overall to help increase the reach of lifesaving cardiovascular disease information to those who need it most and the advancement of the latest groundbreaking heart research for disease prevention and therapies.

"We are so very proud of our team and send a heartfelt thank you from the Mount Sinai Heart family to all those who participated in this amazing event to help raise awareness and support for the vital work of the American Heart Association," says Mount Sinai Heart's team leader Beth Oliver, DNP, RN, the Vice President of Clinical Operations for Mount Sinai Heart. "Each year, this AHA Run/Heart Walk event shows that together, we can make great strides to reduce and strike out illness and death from cardiovascular diseases. Our team can't wait until next year's Run/Heart Walk to move even closer to reaching our lifesaving goal."

After completing the AHA Run/Heart Walk, event participants were able to celebrate by enjoying other heart healthy activities, free health screenings, nutrition and fitness demonstrations, and access to a wealth of heart health information.

Mount Sinai has proudly participated in the AHA Run/Heart Walk event for several years. Mount Sinai, a strong supporter of the AHA, has worked alongside them to improve the health of Americans and those around the world to reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Each and every day, Mount Sinai faculty and staff witness the devastating effects of cardiovascular disease and stroke firsthand and recognize the importance of the AHA's efforts to raise public awareness and expand research efforts.
