“ISET: Combination Treatment for DVT Appears Efficacious
A Phase II trial evaluating the efficacy of combination treatment in dissolving deep venous thromboli (DVT) suggests that the procedure resolves DVT so quickly that treatment in the future may be handled on an outpatient basis, says Robert A. Lookstein, MD, who presented the results at the International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy. Traditional treatment for DVT involves blood thinners, and recently catheter-based treatments that destroy the clot mechanically have been introduced with positive results. After the medication weakens the clot, saline jets break it up and the debris is extracted. Read More
