Treating Ovarian Cancer
A new form of chemotherapy called HIPEC is giving doctors the ability to better treat people with abdominal cancers.
"Abdominal cancers can spread in ways of sheading cells into the abdominal cavity or by touching organs that are sitting next to them," said Dr. Daniel Labow from The Mount Sinai Medical Center. The HIPEC procedure is a heated chemo that is toxic to the cancer cells and it penetrates the cells better than regular chemotherapy used to treat abdominal cancers. Learn More
