Ira S. Nash, MD, Named Chief Medical Officer of The Mount Sinai Medical Center
Ira S. Nash, MD, has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of The Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Nash had been serving as interim Chief Medical Officer.
Ira S. Nash, M.D. has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of The Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr Nash assumes this position immediately.
Since joining Mount Sinai in 1995, Dr. Nash has held a number of critical senior positions. Dr Nash has served as Associate Director of the Zena and Michael Wiener Cardiovascular Institute, Chief of Internal Medicine at the affiliated James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center and, most recently, Interim Chief Medical Officer. During his interim appointment, Dr. Nash exemplified the leadership required to elevate Mount Sinai as an institution committed to achieving great quality and safety.
Dr. Nash received his undergraduate degree in engineering and applied sciences summa cum laude from Harvard College, and his medical degree cum laude from the Harvard-Massachusetts Institute of Technology Program in Health Sciences and Technology at Harvard Medical School. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, he served on the full-time academic staff of the Cardiac Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and on the faculty at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Nash has been a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) since 1992, and is also a fellow of the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Physicians. He was the ACC representative to the Association of Specialty Professors, and currently serves on the ACC/AHA Task Force on Clinical Competency and Training.
Dr. Nash is on the editorial boards of the American Journal of Medicine and the American Journal of Medical Quality. He has edited a book on myocardial infarction care, and is an Associate Editor of Hurst's The Heart, a major textbook and online reference for cardiovascular medicine.
