MedPage Today - "Hospice Entry Policies Keep Use Down"
Three-quarters of hospices (78 percent) have at least one restrictive enrollment policy that keeps usage down, a new study found. "Hospice providers' own enrollment decisions may be an important contributor to previously observed under-use of hospice by patients and families," Melissa Aldridge Carlson, PhD, assistant professor of geriatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and colleagues wrote about a study published in the December issue of Health Affairs.
