Medical Care

Trans and gender non-binary people often seek to change their bodies to better align with their gender identities. The Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery (CTMS) can help. We offer hormone therapy and other trans-specific medical care. CTMS also offers primary care to meet all of your health needs. We deliver care in a sensitive and supportive environment.

Primary Care

CTMS primary care providers are experienced in working with trans and gender non-conforming people. We provide routine screening and health maintenance, as well as yearly physicals and sick visits. We can meet all of your general health care needs. In addition, we can refer you to specialists experienced in working with trans and gender non-binary people. We strive to provide the best possible care in a friendly and respectful environment.

Hormone Replacement Therapy

CTMS offers hormone replacement therapy. We can provide this care whether you receive your primary care here or elsewhere. Our expert providers, including endocrinologists, offer the best possible hormone care. Before you begin therapy, we sit down with you and discuss the risks and benefits of hormone therapy. Then, we develop a regimen to maximize effects from hormones and keep you safe.

  • Feminizing Hormone Therapy
Many trans and gender non-binary people take feminizing hormones to help develop a more feminine appearance. These medications can help you develop breasts. They can change the shape of your face and body. And they can even alter some of your body hair growth patterns. We use estrogen therapy and testosterone-suppressing therapy.
  • Masculinizing Hormone Therapy
Many trans and gender non-binary people take hormones to develop a more masculine appearance. Using testosterone therapy, we can help you develop facial and body hair and deepen your voice. The medications can change the shape of the your face and body. And they can stop menstruation.

Our endocrinologists are experts in hormone replacement therapy. We can also assist with general endocrine needs including:

  • Adrenal disorders
  • Bone health
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Diabetes
  • Fertility
  • Interaction of hormone-replacement therapy with other medical treatment
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Weight loss
