Message from the Dean

Dear Friends,

Phillips School of Nursing at Mount Sinai Beth Israel (PSON) is proud to be a leader in nursing education, and has been since our inception in 1904. From the beginning, we have offered a progressive nursing curriculum that is continually revised to respond to current health care needs. It should be no surprise that we have twice been designated a Center of Excellence by the National League for Nursing in the category of Creating Environments that Enhance Student Learning and Professional Development, 2014-2023.

Located in the heart of New York City, PSON is strongly diverse—from our students, faculty, and staff, to the communities we serve. Situated in a new, state-of-the-art facility, we educate nurses to deliver advanced care with dignity for all. PSON is the sole nursing school in the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS), which includes The Mount Sinai Hospital, ranked among the nation's best. MSHS encompasses eight hospital campuses in the New York metropolitan area and the Icahn School of Medicine and is internationally acclaimed for its excellence in research, patient care, and education across a range of specialties.

Our nursing students complete their clinical rotations in a variety of inpatient and community settings where they have an outstanding opportunity to work with at-risk populations and learn alongside experienced practitioners and educators throughout MSHS and other affiliated hospitals.

Our exciting Three-Year Strategic Plan places emphasis on improving human health through creative initiatives in the areas of Teaching, multi-disciplinary Scholarship, and Service efforts aimed at local and global communities.

The school’s exceptional faculty, passionate and inquisitive students, and dedicated staff make PSON an unrivaled setting to receive your nursing education.

We currently offer two nursing education programs:

  • a 15-month Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (ABSN) for second degree students
  • a 15-month Bachelor of Science Completion Program (RN-BSN) for registered nurses.

Both programs prepare students with the critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills necessary to excel in today’s demanding healthcare environment.

I encourage you to explore our website and take a look at the wonderful resources we have to offer our students. We hope that you will consider taking the next step forward with us because, as always, it is my goal to ensure that all paths from PSON lead to the best and brightest futures!

Sincerely,
